Announcement of PhD contracts 2018
The purpose of this official announcement of funding is the contracting of PhD holders in the biomedical fields indicated for a maximum three-year time period.
The positions offered shall be associated with projects linked with the research lines currently being followed at the Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA). The list of profiles is available in Annex I.
The grants shall be for one year which may be extended to a maximum of three years. This extension must be expressly requested and must be accompanied by an assessment report from the person responsible for the research line involved.
The date foreseen for the incorporation of the successful applicants is expected to be within the fall semester 2018.
The endowment of the grant shall be €24,204.54, which corresponds to the annual gross salary of the postdoctoral researcher; in addition to the employer’s Social Security contributions.
Each candidate may present a single application although he/she may choose more than one project of those listed in Annex I.
If accepted, the successful candidate shall commit to presenting applications for all official convocations to which he/she may apply based on the requirements established by the financial backers.
In general, the PhD holders must fulfill the following requirements on presenting their application:
a) Holding a PhD.
b) Having obtained the PhD between 2013 and 2018.
c) High level of English.
d) Not having resided or carried out his/her main activity in Spain for over 12 months in the three years (36 months) immediately previous to the beginning of the funding (between 2015/09/01 and 2018/09/01).
The specific requirements are associated with each of the projects in Annex I.
Suspension of grants
The research personnel shall have the right to temporary interruption of funding only in the cases of temporary disability or incapacity (due to illness or accident), risk during pregnancy, and maternity or paternity leave, in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
To request suspension, the beneficiary of the funding shall present an application indicating the reason, which shall be accompanied by the medical certificates corresponding to each situation.
In the case of resignation from the funding, notice must be given to the Project Management Service at CIMA, at least 15 days in advance.
The resignation document shall be accompanied by a report on the activities carried out and the results obtained during the funding period. This report shall be assessed, and may entail the partial or total reimbursement of the funding received.
Time and entry period for presentation of new applications
Applications will be accepted beginning on the publication of these rules and the deadline shall be 29 June 2018.
The applications which must be presented to the CIMA Project Management Service or to firstname.lastname@example.org shall be accompanied by the following documentation:
1. Application form correctly completed.
2. Official PhD certification.
3. Curriculum vitae.
4. At least one recommendation letter from the center or centers where previous research work has been carried out.
5. A legible photocopy of the National Identity Card, NIE or Passport.
6. A photocopy of work and residence permits the case of foreigners (this shall not be obligatory at the moment of application, but is necessary before incorporation to the position in the Center if admitted).
7. Any other document or documents which confirm the specific requirements of the profiler profiles selected.

A list of substitutes who may access the funding shall be established, for use on an exceptional basis, if any position is not filled. If none of these substitutes fulfills the requirements, the vacancy may be considered null and void.
The decision shall be made by a scientific commission of CIMA, attending to the following criteria:
-The applicant’s scientific quality.
-Assessment by project leader after interviewing the candidate.
